Ashes & Awakenings is the debut EP by the UK metal band Firmament, released on 30 January 2026. The EP follows the singles “New Tomorrow” and “Cry For The World”, and presents the band’s blend of modern metal production with classic metal influences.
Although not written as a concept record, the EP’s tracks share thematic continuity, forming a narrative progression across its runtime. “New Tomorrow” opens the release with themes of recovery and renewal, using imagery of rising from betrayal and rebuilding after hardship. The EP continues by addressing challenges commonly faced in everyday life, including perseverance through adversity in “Through Tempests”, internal struggle and entrapment in “Shadow Game”, and the need to seek help when feeling confined by one’s own thoughts in “Caged”.
The EP concludes with “Cry For The World”, an anthemic track that encourages reflection on personal responsibility and the fragility of the world around us.
Firmament marked the release of Ashes & Awakenings with a launch show on 31 January 2026 at The Chapel in Nottingham.
