Ensemble Marâghî

The Ensemble Marâghî are currently exploring two lines: one vocal (hânende) and one instrumental (sâzende).

The first one propose a travel that begins with the compositions of musician, composer and musicologist 'Abd ul-Qadir Marâghî, (Maragheh, 1360?- Herat, 1435). The vocal compositions were probably born in Samarkand, where Marâghî worked at the emperor Timur court. Following the Silk Road the compositions arrived in the Ottoman world where they influenced the birth of Ottoman classical music. These vocal compositions shine thanks to the beautiful voice of the great Persian singer Sepideh Raissadat on their: Ensemble Marâghî, Anwar. From Samarqand to Constantinople on the Footsteps of Marâghî, (Felmay, 2010, CD: FY 8172).

The second line explore the instrumental repertoires of the early Ottoman classical music (XVI-XVIII centuries) that resonated between the Court and the Sufi centres of Constantinople.
