Lake Euphoria

Lake Euphoria was founded in the dawn of 2008 in the midst of a constant battle against gin, cigarettes, vodka, sand and more gin. The genesis of the band was due to a lifelong ambition of the three founding (and current) band members. Julian, Jonathan and Ken, fortunate enough to be first cousins, have always collaborated since they were young. However, Lake Euphoria was the culmination of years of ideas and experiences.

This unique smorgasbord of indie rock (influenced strongly by post-punk bands such as Bloc Party and Mogwai) coupled with mainstream alternative bands (think Switchfoot and The Killers) synthesizes in their debut album “Cotton Candy For The Brain”. The album is half an hour of explosive, anthemic songs with a wide variety of influences. The final song “Summer (2008 Demo)” was taken off Lake Euphoria’s “Euphoric EP”, which saw a digital release in February 2008.

Kicking off “Cotton Candy” is “Chapter I”, a song about distance and time. The main lyricist, Julian Kyla Chia, comments, “It’s about passing through reality, into a different dimension. Like a dream where everything goes and where you can explore your own wildest thoughts and imaginations. And that’s exactly what music symbolizes for all of us in the band.”
