Sun Ghost

In 2006, Trevor and Donnie met and played together in a band with their mutual friend. They began as casual acquaintances, but soon developed a musical chemistry together as a guitar/drum combo which prompted them to explore outside the confines of that first project. Trevor started writing songs with Donnie originally under the name Alcohol Freak Out in 2009. The songs were originally raw and stripped-down, in a style reminiscent of the White Stripes or the Black Keys.

After a few songs took structure, they were anxious to pull in a bass player, which they found in Trevor's roommate and fellow Burn Rider, Chris. Donnie, Chris, and Trevor played as a three piece, calling themselves Ghost. The music filled out more and took on a sound of its own by hearkening back to the lively pop rock of Ben Folds Five, the Shins, and Elvis Costello and adding a southwest rock twist. Eventually, their music began begging another guitar player. So their friend Thomas joined them in early 2010 and they all felt unsettled about the generic Ghost name. They adjusted the name to Sun Ghost that summer and spent the year recording an 8-song record called Love, Hurt & Paradox which is due for digital release on April 1st, 2011 and full release on May 6th, 2011.

Sun Ghost has begun writing and recording new material for a 6-song EP for release in Fall of 2011. Trevor and Chris have incorporated a 1970s Thomas/Moog organ into the band as a regularly-featured instrument, and they switch between organ, guitar, and bass, according to the needs of each song.
