Artist Detailed Info: Tim Coster

is a sound artist working in Auckland, New Zealand. He makes audio works involving the use of environmental field-recordings, and computer editing/processing, encompassing self-released CD-Rs, gallery installation and live performance. These are all presentations of processed field recordings and faint musical mistakes. Fragile sound narratives are mixed with approximate fragments of structure and musicality, shifting spatial density and forming mysterious geographies. Prepared environmental sounds and digital processing are (im)perfectly re-arranged into songs with a laptop. Occasional hums, recorded instruments, clicks and quiet granular rhythms are also incorporated.

Tim is a member of the groups Currer Bells (with Angeline Chirnside), Pro Team (with Oliver of the Sky and Eves), Miracle Hex (with Josh Rutter), Cathedrals (with Nigel Wright), Velvet Hour (with LA Lakers), Plains (with Rosy Parlane, Richard Francis, Clinton Watkins, Mark Sadgrove, and Paul Winstanley), Silent Spring (with Josh Rutter and LA Lakers), Huzun (with Andrew Scott), Awesome Vortex (with Adam Willetts), Vogue Forums (with Christopher LG Hill) and a duo with Mark Sadgrove (since 2004).
