Trilogy is Maltese crossover and symphonic rock band established in 2006. Their members are three well-established and trained performer from Malta who have been very active in Maltese theatre for the past decade and these are Eleanor Spiteri, Roger Tirazona and Ludwig Galea. The concept of the band is based on the harmony of 3 voices as one voice in a style of crossover music and symphonic rock, that is both timeless and widely appealing.
Trilogy’s History in the Maltese Eurovision selections is a brilliant one. Their first entry in 2006 won them 3rd place with the song “This Heart of Mine” and in the same year Trilogy was launched, Roger and Eleanor won the grand prix of the Discovery Pop Music Contest 2006 in Bulgaria. In 2007 Trilogy won 2nd place with the song “Starlight”. Starlight was undoubtedly their biggest success, which got them wide international attention and cooperative opportunities with producers like Nicky Graham and Steve Levine. In May 2007, Trilogy was also invited to sing at the opening of the Italian TV show aired on La7, “Lovers on Ice” which was an ice-skating extravaganza with the best European ice-skaters. Following that, they were also invited to give a mini concert in Hammamet, Tunisia. Trilogy then returned to the Malta Eurovision in 2009 with “The Song in Your Heart” which also received great critical review.
Trilogy have now returned in 2014 with Ludwig Galea as the new face and tenor in the trio. The three have worked countless times before in theatrical productions and concerts, making Ludwig a naturally fitting member in the group. He is a trained performer (Trinity College) and trained his voice under Maestro Di Cappella of St. John’s Cathedral. He also represented Malta in the Eurovision Song Contest in Istanbul 2004 accompanying Julie with the song “On again Off again”. Other notable credits are Rockestra 2013, Joseph in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Jesus in Jesus Christ Superstar and Polastron in “1565-The Musical”. Ludwig also gave concerts in Bulgaria, Holland, Belgium and Italy. When Ludwig is not performing, he is a teacher of Drama and Performing Arts.
Eleanor trained with Soprano Gillian Zammit, Antoinette Miggiani and at Masquerade Theatre Arts School and has a large repertoire in Musical theatre and pop concerts in Malta. Theatre credits include Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, The Sound of Music and 1565 – The Musical. She is best known as Trilogy’s only female member bringing great success to the band as a consistent part of the team. Eleanor was also a resident singer in the TVM Programme “Tista’ Tkun Int” and in 2008 also sang the U.S National Anthem at the San Francisco Giants Stadium in front of a 40,000 strong audience. When Eleanor is not seducing with her silky soprano voice, she works as a Nurse at a private hospital.
Roger trained at the Johann Strauss School of Music. He is known to the Eurovision public as a soloist, as a member of a duet and most notably as the baritone member of Trilogy. His entries to the Maltese selection began in 2002 as a soloist, until he joined Trilogy in 2006. His theatre credits include Javert in “Les Miserables in Concert”, Adam in “Seven Brides for Seven Brothers”, Chauvelin in “The Scarlet Pimpernel”, Craven in “The Secret Garden”, Lazar in “Fiddler on the Roof”, Horton in “Seussical the Musical” and Alessandro in “1565-The Musical”. In 2009 he also gave a mini-concert at a packed Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow, singing songs in English and in Russian. Apart from Trilogy’s success, Roger also won a best artist award in the New Asian Singer Contest in Beijing 2010 getting a top 6 position out of all the 35 contestants of Asia and Europe. In the same year he also won the artist award in Canzoni Dal Mondo in Naples, Italy. When Roger is not performing, he is a teacher of Personal, Social and Career Development and is passionate about Philosophy, Ethics and Humanism.
Trilogy are extremely delighted to be returning to the Malta Eurovision Song Contest and come what may they are ready to give their all to perform their song “Chasing a Dream”, composed by Paul Abela with lyrics by Joe Julian Farrugia.
